Compression- and rebound adjustment

As far it is vehicle-specifically possible, the rebound damping is adjusted by a spindle at the end of the piston rod. Mainly, the traction phase (rebound) controls car body vibrations and also influences handling and comfort in the low-speed damping range. By using the traction phase adjustment, the vehicle can be adapted to the requirements of the driver. Moreover the driving behavior can be regulated from comfortably rolling to sporty and tense with improved road holding characteristics.

The compression phase adjustment is carried out at the lower end of the shock absorber via our patented multi-purpose valve. The large number of pre-set parameters of this valve allows for a wide range of adjustment for individual use. The unique low-speed compression adjustment significantly distinguishes this technology from any other. In this compression range, the driving behavior of the vehicle is drastically influenced. An increase of the damping power supports the vehicle already during compression and therefore avoids rolling and pitching. The directional stability is significantly improved.

KW clubsport – Performance for racetrack & road

KW Clubsport was developed for customers, who demand a better handling car when participating in track day events, but also require an official road approval to use their car every day. The setup was specifically designed for the Nordschleife using track day tyres. By using the optional available adjustable top mounts, the suspension geometry can be adjusted to the requirements of tires and the intended use. The mentioned adjustment options combined with the independently adjustable rebound and compression damping technology allow individual setup adjustments according to the vehicle load, tyre characteristics and different track conditions. KW Clubsport meets every demand regarding a coilover for the usage on the road and the race track.

KW Clubsport suspension kits are independently adjustable in compression and rebound forces and include high performance racing springs. Racing top mounts are optionally available for further performance. KW Clubsport guarantees excellent handling, best performance, highest agility and fantastic lap times.

  • Height adjustable coilovers
  • Performance setup for the racetrack
  • Dampers in compression & rebound forces independently adjustable
  • Use of high performance linear race springs/li>
  • In stainless steel technology inox-line
  • Additional available with racing top mounts
  • TÜV approval possible depending on the specification

Compression and Rebound adjustment

The rebound adjustment, produced with the widest range of adjustment for that specific vehicle, is carried out by an adjustment spindle at the end of the piston rod. Most of all, the rebound controls the car body vibration, but at the same time the damping range also affects the handling and comfort at low speeds. With the rebound adjustment, the car can be adjusted to the demands of the driver; the driving impression can range from comfortable ride quality to a tighter and tense ride with improved road-holding characteristics.

The compression adjustment takes place at the lower end of the shock absorber by our patented multi-purpose valve. The number of pre-adjustable parameters of this valve allows a wide range of adjustments. The unique low-speed compression adjustment makes this technology unique. Within this damping range, the driving behaviour of the car is strongly influenced. An increasing damping force already supports the car at the compression and therefore avoids rolling motions. The steering behaviour significantly improves.

KW competition

The racing programme KW Competition has been designed for national and international motor sports. Today, KW Competition is used by various racing teams on race tracks around the world. KW Competition’s participation ranges from amateur motorsports such as the VLN Langstreckenpokal to the professional series of the FIA Touring Car Championship. The overall victories from 2006 to 2009 each year at the 24-hour race of Nürburgring by Manthey Racing, as well as numerous class victories impressively confirm that the racing technology of KW Competition is not only the leading brand when it comes to performance, but also in quality. Our well formed team in our motorsports department with its own unique structures allow us to meet the demands of the ever changing requests of customers. This is done in a flexible and goal-oriented process. Everything from design, construction and testing of the product is completed and overseen by the team at KW.

KW competition 2-way adjustable

Our 2-way adjustable racing suspension systems are based on the twin-tube damping principal. The rebound- and compression forces can be adjusted independently at the end of the piston rod and the base of the casing. With this technology KW is able to equip a wide variety of vehicles, ranging from race cars, to custom fabricated kit-car. Even cars older than 20 years can be outfitted with a high-quality custom-made damping systems. A damping angle up to 45° is possible based on the specific application and that the dampening case remains pointed downwards. More inclination and even horizontal assemblies are also possible. Please state your requirements at the time of order so the proper adjustments can be made to your dampers.

KW competition 3-way adjustable

Our 3-way adjustable racing suspensions are designed for professional motorsports. The systems are based on mono-tube damping construction with a separate adjustable compression reservoir canister. The 3-way has a very large working range of dampening adjustment and allows for nearly any adjustment possibility. An additional benefit is the freedom to mount the adjustable compression reservoir, allowing easier access for adjustments. KW offers applications for nearly every discipline of motorsports: circuit, slalom, mountain, rally, cross, formula 1 type race cars.

KW suspensions

The KW Suspensions program has been developed in addition to the famous KW coilover programme. The aim of this programme is to use the existing resources, the know-how from motorsport, the direct access to high-quality materials and perfect organised industrial production for conversion of car specific sport suspension kits. KW also would like to achieve visual and driving dynamical improvements, meet OEM quality and offer a superb price/performance ratio.

Sport suspension kits

KW Sport Suspension kits consist of high-quality springs and specially matched sports shock absorbers with shortened stroke which are aligned to the new ratio. The aim of the extensive driving tests is to achieve an ideal collaboration of the shock and spring units and a significant improvement of the handling and drivability. The sporty, harmonised tuning offers a high degree of driving dynamic and safety without loosing the comfort.

  • High-quality springs with specially matched sports shock absorbers
  • Sports shock absorbers with shortened stroke
  • Optimum interaction between shock absorber/spring unit
  • Significant improvement in handling and drive ability
  • Sporty, harmonised tuning

Spring kits

KW Sport Spring kits are suited to lower the car height up to 60 mm. Besides the improved look, the lowered centre of gravity contributes to increased agility and driving pleasure. KW sport spring kits with a lowering up to 40 mm could be used with standard shock absorbers. Generally, it is recommended to use sport shock absorbers. For a lowering of more than 40 mm the use of sport shock absorbers is required.

  • Lowering from 40 to 60 mm, including wedge shape
  • Lowered centre of gravity
  • Improved looks
  • Increased agility and driving pleasure
  • OEM quality according to DIN ISO
  • Chrome-silicium-steel

Sport shock absorbers

KW Sport Shock Absorbers meet all claims of a modern high-performance damping system. All KW sport shock absorbers are specially developed with a sportive damping setting for road-use. KW engineers are using all their knowledge from suspension development and motorsport to find a perfect setting during extensive road testings. The twin-tube gas shock absorbers are equipped with hardened, chrome-plated piston rods and offer ideal protection against stone chips and corrosion. A new innovative monoblock rod guide and seal system raise the pressure resistance, reduce the friction and enhance the capability. The new working piston with V-shaped Teflon seals reduce the friction losses to a minimum and ensure a high temperature-resistant and long-lasting damping system. All KW sport shock absorbers are equipped with a rebound (shortened stroke), assure optimum bore-stroke ratio and arrange pre-stressed springs. A big part of the rear axle shock absorbers is equipped with spring plates which are height adjustable by slots. This enables to vary the car height in 5 additional positions.

  • Characteristic curves specifically for the intended use
  • Extensive road testing for optimum road-holding
  • Optimised working piston with V-shaped Tefl on seals
  • Pressure resistant monoblock guide and seal package
  • Extremely low-friction and pressure resistant system
